This research deals with an important topic on the theoretical level, which is the search for the nature of breaking off diplomatic relations, its causes and implications. In addition, the research attempts to study the case of cutting diplomatic ties by Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt with Qatar on 5 June 2017 by tracking the real causes behind it and studying its political and economic implications too. The main idea in this research is that cutting diplomatic ties with Qatar by the four countries was the result of reasons related to how Qatar's foreign policy, its unusual trends in the region, its multiple relations, its cross-border activities, and its significant political, economic and media role in the region have been managed. Through such roles, Qatar, with its small size, has tried to play as a regional power in the presence of other regional powers. The implications of cutting such diplomatic ties are on several levels which include the all relevant parties of the diplomatic ties and all will be harmed, but Qatar will be the most affected party.
