Abstract

DNA fingerprinting is one of the medical methods that have great importance in the field of criminal evidence، as it has become important through its use in proving many crimes، which has become one of the indispensable means for the judiciary in issuing judicial rulings. In this research، we dealt with clarifying what DNA fingerprinting is، its characteristics، controls، conditions، and legal nature، as well as defining the legal framework for the evidence derived from DNA fingerprinting and the definitive extent of its significance in criminal evidence، the position of Iraqi and comparative law on it، and the Iraqi judiciary’s position on it. The study was divided into an introduction، two chapters، and a conclusion.  The first topic dealt with the nature of the DNA fingerprint، and the second topic was devoted to studying the controls of the DNA fingerprint، its validity and legal difficulties. The conclusion includes the most important findings and recommendations that have been reached.
