Abstract
Since their establishment, Iraqi-American relations have gone through various phases, ranging from cooperation to apathy, disagreement, and conflict, based on the specifics of each stage of Iraq's contemporary history. These relations took a different turn after 2003, when relations strengthened. They then took a different turn in 2011, when relations between the two parties were framed according to a number of strategic agreements in light of the US withdrawal from the country. After 2021, new variables emerged, including the rise of Joe Biden to power in the White House and the growing tendency of some Iraqi political forces to reduce or withdraw the US military presence from the country. Despite this, US forces in Iraq have continued to provide training, advisory support, and assistance in the fight against terrorism. In addition to economic cooperation and US support through reconstruction programs and financial aid, the return of US President Donald Trump to the White House will put Iraqi-American relations to the test, with several options, the easiest of which are difficult for the Iraqi government and influential political forces.
