Abstract

This study aims to analyze the components and dimensions of Iraqi national security in light of contemporary challenges, as national security is defined as a set of internal and external factors that affect the stability of the state and its ability to protect its sovereignty from risks and threats. The study focuses on understanding the internal challenges that Iraq suffers from, including political, sectarian, and economic crises, as well as the negative effects of terrorist groups such as ISIS, in addition to the weakness of government institutions and the lack of security stability. The study also addresses external challenges that include foreign interventions, ongoing regional conflicts, and water challenges. In addition, the study discusses the human dimensions of security, as it is considered a fundamental field that contributes to achieving social and economic stability. In conclusion, the study provides strategic solutions to enhance Iraqi national security, through reforming the political system, strengthening security institutions, and enhancing regional and international cooperation, which contributes to enabling the state to face various challenges.
