Abstract

Polygyny in Kurdistan region's personal statute between legitimate precepts and today's requirements Polygyny is allowed according to Quran and Sunna and all the five legitimate laws( duty , mandub ,permissible , disliked and forbidden) are applied to it. Polygyny has been legitimated for man and woman's advantage together. It was expanded at the time of the pharaohs and with all the prophets and upon the Jews and Christians until it was banned in 1750C . Some countries, like Algeria, Tunis and Iraq, have issued disciplines to organize it. The article related to Polygyny in Kurdistan Region's personal statute is controversial between those who support it and those who oppose and the Kurdish society is not out of the negative effects which are resulted from Polygyny in the personal statute .The great number of divorce and marriage outside court then confirming it after sleeping with the second wife, did not put an end to the chaos which is resulted from Polygyny without realizing its conditions.
