Abstract
This study seeks to understand of political violence in Iraq particularly after the fall of regime in 2003. Since then, the new Iraqi regime began a new era which is characterized of several types of violence. This study examined the nature of the political violence in Iraq through the review of literature and research who examined this issue. This study categorized the conceptual framework of the violence in Iraq mainly into two types. The first type of violence which does by the government and the second type of violence is practiced by armed groups and militias from inside and outside Iraq The study find out that the violence led to the loss of trust amongst the government, political entities and the public. In turn, this led to the possibility of coexistence and dialogue between the Iraq components has become difficult to a large degree, especially with the increasing level of sectarianism. Beside this, the study identified that the political violence in Iraq has connected to the identity of components which has the regional dimensions. In this sense, the tackling of violence which is required solving the sensitivity of sectarian affiliation in favor of national identity in Iraq.
