Violence is considered one of the widespread phenomena in Iraq due to the social, political, ethnic, religious, and sectarian structure of the Iraqi society. After the invasion of Iraq in 2003, United States' policies have played an influential role in the escalation of political violence in Iraq because of several reasons, including the outputs of the invasion operation, the eruption of sectarian problems, and the decision of disbanding the Iraqi Army. On the other hand, the United States of America has taken some secondary steps to corner political violence which has erupted differently due to the political and military conditions in Iraq. The most outstanding steps include supporting the political process and the democratic endeavors based on political consensus, backing the local militias such as (Al-Sahwa), and launching attacks against those militias that opposed to the political process in Iraq. Although the American troops have left Iraq, United States of America is counted responsible for a noticeable rate of the ongoing political violence in Iraq.
